Vitamin & leukemias.: Hypersegmented neutrophils are seen with vitamin b-12 and folate (folic acid) deficiency, while large platelets can be in myelophthisic disease, like myelofibrosis and leukemias. These are conditions that displace the precursor cells from the bone marrow into the peripheral blood.
