Good question: Entire textbooks have been devoted to this question. There are many neuro-degenerative disorders and neuro-metabolic disorders and neuro-genetic disorders that have been described. Many present with memory loss. Leucodystrophies and storage diseases are well known. Some have defined genetic markers, but many have no defined marker but definite genetic tendency.
