A member asked:

Are ra patients more prone to intestinal problems?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes: The blood vessels can be involved in rheumatoid arthritis. If the RA patient develops inflammation of blood vessels (vasculitis), the arteries feeding the organs can be involved (visceral arteritis). Intestinal involvement can begin as minor abdominal pain that may progress to severe pain, a tender belly on exam, bowel infarction, and gastrointestinal bleeding.
