Gentle soap: Assuming that you do not have burn cellulitis or an infection, gentle soap, such as cetaphil will suffice. Follow your physician's advice on what to apply afterwards. Silvadene (silver sulfadiazine) cream is most commonly used and should be washed off prior to reapplication. In this circumstance, you could also use saline.
