Yes when small: The white-heads acne are typical examples of an infected sweat gland/hair follicle, which is often painless when tiny/small. When coalescedd involving few together or enlarged is called a furuncle(picture here), and even larger (two or more furuncles) is a carbuncle which are commonly known as boils which can be quite painful and needs treatment.
