No quick fixes: Once an acne lesion is formed, it runs its course. So, the purpose of acne treatment is to prevent flares. If you have acne prone skin, routine use of salicylic acid and/or benzoyl peroxide containing acne wash helps. The "blemish removers" that are used to spot treat are typically higher concentrations of salicylic acids. They dry the lesions out more quickly, but the recovery time is the same.
