The basics: Indigestion is a common term for irritation in the swallow tube. It occurs when stomach acid back washes during the stomachs mechanical churning to mix food. Caffeine, nicotine & some foods prevent the stomach entrance from closing tight. Laying down after meals removes gravity from helping keep food down. If you avoid the aggravating factors it may improve.
