Similar symptoms: Pain like smooth muscle cramp can come from several structures, eg, bowel, bladder, uterus. Pain from uterine contractions during labor can be similar to menstrual cramping but is a lot more intense and comes in waves usually. Discomfort associated with having a bowel movement should feel different and resolve with passing stool. Dysuria from bladder, eg uti, is different in location, type, onset.
