Blood clot fatality: Depends on the size of the clot, number of clots, & their location: even a small clot in a critical area of the brain or in a coronary artery can rapidly lead to death unless treated expeditiously. Prevention is the key: people prone to forming blood clots are given meds to thin the blood to prevent clot formation.

Minutes in brain : If the clot happens in certain vital area of brain-stem that control your breathing/heart beat, you could be dead in minutes. In other areas of brain, u may not die but likely will suffer consequences of "stroke." in the lung, often it is not fatal, unless very large clot clogging up the main arteries and u don't get help in time. Clots remaining legs often not fatal. Consult doc. Good luck.

Hold on: First where is the blood clot? Blood clots in muscles are not fatal. Blood clots in veins need treatment with blood thinners. Blood clots in the lung are more serious but are still treatable. Talk to your doctor . Get the reassurance that you need and put your mind to rest.
