What is the difference between glioblastoma and glioma?

GBM is agressive: Glioblastoma is a malignant tumor of the brain. It often invasive and agressive form of brain tumor whereas glioma is often a benign primary brain tumor. Glioblastoma has the tedency to spread locally or to other part of the brain. Treatment of glioblastoma includes combination of surgery, radiatoin with or without chemotherapy. Gliomas usually do not spread and are treated by resection alone.

Worse and bad: Glioblastoma is the most aggressive form of glioma. Gliomas are classified by their type and grade. Lower grade lesions are not benign but carry a better prognosis than higher grade lesions. Different types of gliomas are derived from different cells in the brain. Glioblastoma tends to infiltrate the brain and can almost never be totally removed surgically. It has a very poor prognosis.
