PTSD: Is a severe anxiety disorder that develops after exposure to any event that results in psychological trauma. Symptoms include re-experiencing the trauma (nightmares, flashbacks), avoidance of stimuli associated with the trauma, & increased arousal (insomnia, phypervigilance, anger). Symptoms last more than 1 month & interfere with daily functioning. Treatment involves cognitive behavior therapy.

Experienced provider: If you have symptoms consistent with ptsd, it would be in your best interest to work with a therapist who is experienced with this condition. On the other hand, it you are just curious about it, there are a number of great sites on -line.
