Maybe....: Getting up in the middle of the night to urinate is known as nocturia. In men, this is common over the age 45-50 and is due to an enlarging prostate gland. In women, urinary frequency and nocturia could be caused by the uterus "leaning" on the bladder causing the sensation of fullness. Infections can also cause nocturia. One needs to be evaluated by their family doctor for definitive care.

Need to be examined: Getting up at night to urinate frequently can be a symptom of various conditions, so it is best to visit your doctor for a basic history, physical exam and perhaps a couple of simple tests. There are many causes for this including urinary tract infection, prostate issues, overstimulation of the bladder (by caffeine or drinking in excess) and diabetes.
