Should be good: Open scanners have increased in popularity, they produce inferior scan quality because they operate at lower magnetic fields than closed scanners. However, newer 1.5 tesla open systems have become available, providing much better image quality than previous lower field strength open models.

Yes: Open MRI scanner can certainly see a tumor especially when enhanced with gadolinium contrast. Mri would be ordered based on findings from history, review of systems and physical exam.
