Not very easily: West nile virus (wnv) is transmitted through mosquito bites. (but only by mosquitoes that have been feeding on an infected bird.) it is possible to get wnv fom another person, but it 's not easy. It can occur via conjunctival (eye) exposure to infected blood, through blood transfusions, intrauterine exposure, and breast feeding. Normal contact with others is not a problem.

Very unlikely: West Nile Virus is normally transmitted to humans by mosquitoes. Mosquitoes normally acquire the virus from birds. Mosquitoes are most active during the warm season. This is when most infections are incurred.
