Hive worse at night: Sounds like urticaria with dermatograhism, but the pain and duration could indicate other diagnoses. The night time worsening is common due to natural chemical variablity called circadian rhythm. See your pcp or board certiified allergist.

Urticaria: Hives can be due to many things including: 1. Allergies to pollens, mold, dust, food, drugs and bee stings 2. Infections like hepatitis 3. Autoimmunity 4. Complement deficiency – acquired or hereditary 5. Vaculitis 6. Idiopathic – unknown cause – very common treatment may include antihistamines, steroids, h2 blockers and if very severe, cyclosporine scratching can cause dermatographism.
