Many: It depends on the type of esophageal cancer and the stage. Cisplatin plus 5-fu is a common regimen, and it is sometimes given with radiation. Other types of chemo being studied include taxol, gemciteabine, irinotecan, and xeloda (capecitabine). A good website for cancer information is www.Cancer.Gov, the national cancer institute website. Good luck!
