Waiting is best: Urine pregnancy tests are best done at least 10-14 days after a missed period. The test measures a hormone, known as hcg. During the first 12-14 weeks of pregnancy, the amount of hormone rises. If done too early, there is not enough hormone for a urine test to measure. Go to a clinic for testing. If negative, repeat in a week. A blood test can be done but costs a lot more.
