Distractable symptom: What you described sounds like a symptom that is distractable--put your mind to a different task and the distress resolves. Inflammation is less likely under this circumstance, but clearly can't be excluded without formal evaluation. See your doctor about appropriate testing, but share with him/her any stressors you may be experiencing.

Irritable bowel IBS: Irritable bowel syndrome (or ibs) may be helped by exercise. One rare cause of intermittent abdomen pain is porphyria. For some reason exercise helps this disease, also. When you exercise you also tend to increase fluids and glucose to boost carbohydrate levels, which helps limit the production of porphyrins and reduces pain.
