Normal!: Onycholysis is the painless separation of the nail from the nail bed. This is a common problem. It can be a sign of skin disease, an infection or the result of injury, but most cases are seen in women with long fingernails. Discoloration underneath the nail may occur as a result of secondary infection. Treatment of the nails with a nail growth promoter is a good idea.

May be fungus?: It's not normal for a 4 and half year old child to lose her toenails. I would take her to a podiatrist and have the feet examined for the possible cause.
