A member asked:

Can acid reflux cause seizures and if so, how?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No: Reflux can cause reactive pain and spasms in the head and neck. These may be interpreted as seizures but are not. In infants this can cause strange arching and head turning and breath holding. This was described by sandifer. It is important to separate these events from true seizures. An eeg recording during such an event would clarify the issue. Seizure medications may cause reflux.
