Chewable tums (calcium carbonate): Children chewable Tums (calcium carbonate) can be helpfull and quite safe when not used in excess. Some peptobismol may also provide some benefit. Diarrheal illnesses in young children r often of brief duration. Encourage adequate hydration--any fluid he/she can take in. If symptoms worsen or longer then 3-4 days, consult doc. Good luck.

Tylenol (acetaminophen): There are multiple things you can do including giving him some tylenol (acetaminophen). Most important is to keep up with the fluids to prevent dehydration. The diarrhea process has to run its course. We tend not to give anything that interfere with diarrhea unless it is severe and associated with other symptoms like vomiting. Avoid milk products until 2-3 days after diarrhea resolve and use brat diet.
