Depends: After age 40, the amount of viable eggs is markedly decreased and pregnancy may be much more difficult to achieve with out the help of a fertility specialist. Some things to consider are dads age as there is an increase in genetic problems with older sperm as well. Over age 45 the risk of having a baby with Down syndrome is 1/30. Maternal diabetes and hypertension also go up.

Should have no : Problem since you stated you are healthy . You are aware that you are considered high risk and may possibly have a baby born with down's or simply have a normal, healthy baby. Please discuss with your husband and ob.

Hard to say: Fertility is not always guaranteed by "healthy" status.That said, every fertile woman has about 4% risk of an unexpected outcome (premi,cleft palate, infection,chromosome defect,etc).The effect of age on your eggs will add 1-2% to your risk of Down syndrome or other chromosome pbm.Then there is dad. You may want to meet with a geneticist to review all data,including dad, to get your specific riisk
