Probably not: Unless you were diagnosed with adult diabetes. With proper weight control, diet, water. It is possible to discontinue insulin.

Type 1 or 2?: If you have type 1 dm, then you won't be able to come off. If you've been on oral medication for years as a type 2 patient, and are now on insulin, your pancreatic islet cells may be too fargone to come off. If you are a newly diagnosed type 2 patient on Insulin because of symptoms and very elevated hba1c, then lifestyle change and oral meds may allow you to be weaned from insulin.
