Neuritic: You describe neuritic pain. The peripheral nerves are irritated and send bad messages that the brain interprets as burning or needle like. There may be reflex sympathetic dystrophy. Nerve calming agents such as Gabapentin may be of benefit. Better positioning in bed may help. Soap bar under the sheets has helped some.
