Yes.: The volume of an enlarge prostate can be reduced with medications called 5-alpha-reductase inhibitors, such as Finasteride and dutasteride. It may take a quite a long time, but the size of the prostate will decrease with treatment, as will episodes of urine obstruction. Although these medications are effective, patients that fail to improve with these medications may need a procedure.
