Is it okay to gargle peroxide but not swallow it?

No...: Peroxide is caustic to tissues and can be extremely harmful even when diluted. If you seek a solution to a particular problem, ask your oral surgeon or dentist.

Better choices: There are better choices to use other than peroxide. Peroxide can potentially lead to a fungal infection since it may alter the normal bacterial flora in the mouth. Try using salt water or mouthwash.

97% water: Bottled peroxide is mostly water and does very little. If you want to rinse use a commercial mouthwash sparingly. Brushing and flossing is best. It physically scapes away the plaque. Peroxide is a waste of money.
