See answer : While enchondromas are considered a benign bone tumor, they can still cause structural issues and possible fractures due to thinning of the bone adjacent. These are called pathological fractures. Curettage and grafting is meant to address the tumor before this happens. Should a pathological fracture occur, you would be facing fracture repair and addressing the tumor.
