It depends: Tumors that are grade 3, or that have a high "proliferation rate", may spread more quickly than grade 1 or 2. Tumors that are er- (estrogen receptor negative) or her2+ spread more quickly than other types. Inflammatory breast cancer of any type can spread in days; the other types of invasive ductal carcinoma generally take months.
