Do not do it: Both medications are in the benzodiazepine family. If injected they go fast to brain centers for breathing and heart rate. These should only be given IV in hospital setting with careful monitoring of breathing and heart rate. Iv Ativan (lorazepam) is often used in ers for seizures. Oral form is rapidly absorbed and can get into the system in a few minutes.
