Meds seldom help: A 3 year old gets little if any benefit from any otc medicine for cough & cold. Many contain medicines that thicken secretions or suppress cough which can actually impair the progress of healing. Selective treatment based on an office exam may help, but most simple episodes will self heal quickly if left alone.
