Many kinds of help: Short-term treatment and detox with methadone, Buprenorphine (suboxone) or Clonidine can help you get off the opioids with much less withdrawal. Depending on length/severity of habit, relapse is common. Long-term therapeutic community treatment, the use of an injectable narcotic antagonist (vivitrol) are treatments, as are long-term Methadone and Suboxone treatment. Treatment includes counseling.

There are levels: There is narcotic replacement. Methadone and suboxone are the two best. There is damping the symptoms. Clonidine blocks stress hormone responses (shakes), imodium is quite good with the diarrhea (it is a narcotic). Mostly the main symptoms are not well treated except by narcotics. But then, there is getting used to the symptoms. This occurs with repeatedly going into mild withdrawal.

Demand a better life: Alina, congratulations on discovering Health Tap -- the very fact that you asked tells me that you want to find a happier way of living. And this is your right as a human being. While you may find comfort in replacement therapy, you can get through withdrawal if you're surrounded by people who care about you and see it -- as you do -- as a transition to a far happier you. Be brave and best wishes.
