Food/water safety: When traveling in areas where amebiasis is common, make sure to drink only bottled, boiled, or purified water. Hot food should be hot, and you should avoid unpeeled raw fruits or vegetables. Amebiasis can also be transmitted through sex, especially if there is contact with fecal matter (e.g. Through rimming).
