Doesn't matter: A misconception is one should wait for a wisdom tooth to grow in. Wisdom teeth should be removed well before this most of the time to prevent damage to other teeth and lessen complications from removal. A partially formed wisdom tooth is much easier to deal with as is one that hasn't come in. Get a second opinion and see an oral surgeon soon.

A few years...: Wisdom teeth form and grow the same as the rest of our teeth. A tiny tooth bud in the jaw develops into a full sized ivory chopper in about 3 years, but you cannot see this happening. Next, the process of adult eruption starts at age six. Wisdom teeth erupt between 14 and 24 years of age. Often they are stuck in an odd position, and might never appear, or partially enter the mouth.

Erupt..not grow : Wisdom teeth don't grow as you think. They are developing under the gums and when they erupt or make their appearance in your mouth can be anywhere from 14 years old to over 70. Some people don't even have them or they may never erupt or be visible in the mouth. You can have a panoramic type x-ray which will show if you have them and their location in you mouth. That would be best solution.
