A member asked:

Is colonoscopy necessary to monitor inflammatory bowel disease ?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Can be: Depends on the type & severity of the colitis, and how long it has been present. Colonoscopy can look for disease resolution or recurrence on medical therapy, or how well the medication is working. Colonoscopy can look for changes to biopsy and watch for dysplasia or pre-cancerous changes too.
