Is it normal for my ability to concentrate to suffer after getting a tbi?

Yes, but see below: Traumatic brain injury generically affects focus, concentration, memory, and organizational skills, and the extent of these problems vary from person to person. Typically, gradual improvement will occur up to 1 1/2 to 2 yrs after the injury. More rapid help can occur with cognitive rehab, speech therapy and some meds.

Yes: It is not unusual for a person to have cognitive difficulties after a tbi. This depends on the severity of the tbi and whether or not there are demonstrable signs of injury on the ct/mri scans. All of the symptoms improve with time and cognitive therapy. It is particularly important during the time of recovery to avoid additional head injury and alcohol.
