Emotions: Absolutely, if you have had a poor relationship with your dad it is going to have some impact on your life and your relationships. The good news is that many women have had difficulty with their dads, worked out their problems and gone on to have healthy relationships with men, especially those who enter psychotherapy. Best.

Not etched in stone: Our emotional functioning is affected by our histories and experiences. Our general orientations toward relationships are largely learned from our experiences with others and parents do play a significant role in developing our emotional/relational templates.
