What kind of doctor performs a mastectomy?

General Surgeons: General surgeons, such as myself, undergo a minimum of 5 years of training to perform many different cancer operations, including mastectomy. Breast reconstructions are performed by plastic surgeons.

General surgeon: A general surgeon usually performs these. Some have specislized in breast surgeries. A plastic surgeon may also start the reconstruction during the same surgery.
