See below: Signs of depression vary. The person may have trouble falling asleep, or staying asleep. Maybe sleeping a lot. The appetite maybe very decreased or increased, as well as the weight. There is a sense of hopelessness and a loss of enjoyment. Most of the time , there will be isolation. Of course the most worrisome sign would be thoughts of suicide.

Major Depression: is a mood disorder lasting a minimum of two weeks. Depressive sx's may include low mood, irritability, anger, ^ or v sleep, change in appetite, feelings of helplessness or hopelessness, v energy, v self-esteem, feelings of guilt. V motivation, absence of joy,v concentration & v memory . When severe, suicidal thoughts , psychosis & major impairment in many areas of life can occur.
