What type of exercise is best after hip surgery?

Walking, etc: After hip surgery, for the most part, there is transient weakness of the hip abductor and hip extensors. Therefore, after surgery, a program of walking with abductor and gluteal strengthening exercises is typically recommended. You will want to check with a surgeon on when to begin this program.

Hip surgery: The best exercises immediately after hip surgery work on increasing your range of motion. Best to discuss this with your surgeon and assisting physical therapist so as to not cause an injury to your new hip.
