A member asked:

Is there some poison released in the body when a spleen bursts?

No: Rupture of the spleen is dangerous because of the generous blood supply to this very vascular organ. Rupture may lead to life-threatening hemorrhage and requires emergent intervention. There is no direct toxin released by the spleen.

No: Granted some unsavory material can get released by splenic rupture. However, the biggest risk is uncontrolled bleeding from the spleen's generous blood supply. The blood loss can be so massive that it impairs breathing and squeezes other organs so they choke off their blood supply.
