Depends: Splenic rupture may be life threatening. This depends on the degree of "rupture". Severe pain in back or upper abdomen after trauma requires immediate medical attention. Surgery may be required but in some instances, in hospital observation is all that is required as small ruptures can heal on their own. Abrupt onset of light headedness requires immediate evaluation.
