A member asked:

Why would you still have hot flashes while taking hormone medicine?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Hormone swings: Taking supplemental female hormones help replace some of what the ovaries used to produce more of. They also help level internal hormone production, reducing major swings in pituitary and other glandular production. Even with proper balancing, and supplementing all major ovarian hormones, there can still be "breakthrough" hot flashes or vasomotor symptoms.
