Straing or rectal ma: Rectal prolapse is not common in men but when it occurs, it is usually from chronic diarrhea and straining at the stool. Rectal prolapse should usually be repaired by an experienced surgeon as there are several different techniques which can be applied depending on patient factors such as age, debility, assessment of anal sphincter tone and squeeze, etc. Colonoscopy is necessary.
