There are many approaches, including cystoscopy, ureteroscopy, percutaneous nephrolithotomy, laparoscopy, & shockwave lithotripsy. A urologist will be able to discuss management options & a strategy to prevent future stones.

Yes. but...: Urinary stone inside kidneys can be successfully "removed" most of times, but always comes with its price - side effect. Before procedure, always mull over if necessary even it's possible to remove it. As well, if the patient is well counseled for stone prevention just like counseling a morbid obese persons before being operated upon.
