No: Instead of skipping meals, you need to help him make better choices at meals. For example, increasing fruits and vegetables and drinking more water.

Eat healthy: It would be better to eat healthy food, plenty of fruit and vegetables and drink plenty of water. Skipping meals will only make the child over eat later, as well as slow his metabolism thus counteracting need to lose weight.
