Not necessarily: Creativity comes in all forms. Allow them to experiment and encourage all attempts.

Offer not restrict: Find other activities, too, that he/she finds fascinating, engaging. E.G., two-person games pitched to his/her level; great books; music; creative writing; select videogames that involve/require thought & interaction. Entice rather than restrict. Best-selling videogames created by best-selling educational software authors. Age appropriate instruction in actual programming.
