A member asked:

Can you give a 3 month old over-the-counter medicine ibuprofen?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not until > 6m: The Ibuprofen is broken down & eliminated from the body through the kidney. The infant kidney is considered at risk of injury & decreasing function if given Ibuprofen or other NSAID medicines prior to 6 months of age. Acetaminophen which is disposed of through the liver is preferred under 6m.
