What might cause pain in the calf and foot numbness?

Caution: Whenever there is pain in the calf it is prudent to rule out a deep vein thrombosis or clot. The foot numbness may or may not be related. There are nerves that run down the leg and end in the foot so impingement on the nerve can cause foot numbness. Sometimes, the etiology might actually come from the back. See a doc for a proper exam.

Go to the ER: Calf pain with related numbness below can be a serious sign. You should probably go to the er to make sure you don't have a DVT (blood clot.) another possible serious diagnosis is peripheral arterial disease (pad) in which the pain and numbness are the result of the circulation being cut off. Of course many causes can be benign, but you need to rule out the serious causes first.
