Varied ways: Pain in R.A. Can be due to many things. A ctive inflammation can cause pain and can be managed with anti-inflammatory medication, steroids or other disease specific drugs( like Methotrexate and the biologic drugs). Mechanical pain may require splinting or other forms of enforced resting of the joints. Pain medications, like tylenol, (acetaminophen) tramadol or codein preparations may also be used.

Many options: However there are many options for treatment. Medications like anti-inflammatory options like ibuprofen, naproxen, steroid medications, methotrexate , etc. Other options include synvisc/euflexxa injections to help lubricate the knee joint or even platelet/stem cell therapies as well. Some of these options are not covered by your insurance though. Check out Regenexx.Com for stem cell therapy.
