Rehabilitation: In my opinion, surgery for a ruptured disc in the spinal canal, should be reserved for significant reasons, as progressive weakness, numbness, pain, with/without bladder issues, or any threat/ damage to the spinal cord. Many pts will respond to physical therapy, exercise, steroid injections, and other rehab steps. A european MRI study showed many discs will dessicate and shrink over 9-10 months.
